DVP085 Judges 2:8-10 (March 26)

8 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died at the age of 110 years.
9 And they buried him within the boundaries of his inheritance in Timnath-heres, in the hill country of Ephraim, north of the mountain of Gaash.
10 And all that generation also were gathered to their fathers. And there arose another generation after them who did not know the LORD or the work that he had done for Israel.

Joshua died, leaving just a few nations remaining for Israel to drive out from he promised land. God kept these nations to test the remaining people of Israel to ensure they would continue to drive out the wicked nations.

Unfortunately all of that previous generation of Joshua died. There was now, nobody left with the first hand experience of God's deliverance through the Exodus and the wilderness and the people begin to turn towards evil. Judges continues the story of Israel's up and down commitment to their God.

We must remember to share our lives and our experiences in walking with God with our children so that they grow up knowing something of his work. This will make it easier for them to follow him as they grow up. We should even welcome the challenges in life which force them to experience things which cause them to rely on him and get to know him more. For those of us who are older, we must also trust God for that generation to come because we can't "make" them believe and do right, and when we are gone it will be God who ensures their salvation.

Be prayerful about the future which you do not control.
